Well, folks, the new Galaxy Z foldable phones from Samsung have been announced and the Galaxy Z Flip 6 is here, bringing along great improvement to its battery life this year.We have a somewhat increased battery capacity that's 300mAh larger then last year's Flip. But that slight difference in battery size alone does not explain the big improvement to battery life that we saw during our own battery tests. A large part to play is also (most probably) the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset!
If you were waiting to see faster charging speeds you will probably be left disappointed. Samsung did not mention any improvements on that front, so we are looking at the same situation as before.
Galaxy Z Flip 6 battery upgrades
Unlike the more premium Z Fold 6, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 has an upgraded 4,000mAh battery, jumping from the 3,700mAh one inside the Z Flip from 2023. As you will see from our battery life test results below, this change significantly affected the overall battery life of the Z Flip series.
It could be that the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and other hardware/software optimization might have also impacted the improved battery life.Before you check out our results, though, here are the official Samsung battery life estimates for the Z Flip 6:- 23 hours of video on Flip 6 (vs 20 hours on Flip 5), 68 hours of music on Flip 6 (vs 57 hours on Flip 5)

As you can see from the results above, the Z Flip 6 lasted much longer than its predecessor in our battery life tests. The 3D Gaming battery test is especially impressive, as the battery endurance has improved twofold compared to the Z Flip 5.
Alongside the 4 hours and 2 hours jump in our Web Browsing and Video Streaming battery life tests respectively, we can easily consider this as one of the main upgrades with the Z Flip 6.
Galaxy Z Flip 6 charging upgrades
Sadly, Samsung is sticking to what it knows when it comes to the Galaxy Z Flip 6 charging speeds. Not that we expected anything different, since if there are going to be any bumps to the charging speed we would probably first see them on the Z Fold or one of the Galaxy S series.
